Derrick Mitchell's walkoff hit propels Lehigh Valley IronPigs to split - UPDATE

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/ironpigs/index.ssf/2012/06/mitchell_walkoff_hit_propels_i.html FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES Derrick Mitchell’s one-out, bloop single to left field scored Domonic Brown with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs overcame a four-run deficit and took Game 1 of a doubleheader from the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-4 tonight at Coca-Cola Park. Pawtucket scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to win the nightcap, 7-6. Brown’s one-out single to right field started the rally, and he advanced to third on a single by the hot-hitting John Suomi. After a walk to Cody Overbeck loaded the bases, Mitchell delivered his game-winning hit. Suomi’s 2-for-3 game lifted his average to .345. In his last seven games, including Game 1, he is 15-for-28 (.536) with two home runs, six doubles, seven runs and eight RBIs. Mitchell was 3-for-4 with a run and four RBIs for Lehigh Valley (31-25). Brian Sanches (2-1) picked up the win by pitching a scoreless top of the seventh in relief of Scott Elarton, who gave up four runs (three earned) on 10 hits with six strikeouts and one walk in six innings. The PawSox (35-22) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the top of the fourth inning, but the IronPigs scored twice in both the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game. Mitchell continued his big night with a grand slam in the second inning of the nightcap to give him an eight-RBI evening. The PawSox broke a 6-all tie in the top of the sixth inning when Lars Anderson singled home Ronald Bermudez with two outs. Bermudez had led off the inning with a single, but after IronPigs pitcher Tyson Brummett had struck out the next two hitters, he uncorked a wild pitch with Bermudez advancing to second. Anderson then singled to center to score the go-ahead run. The IronPigs had a chance to at least tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Cody Overbeck struck out with runners on first and third to end the game.
