Thome trade to Orioles impacts the IronPigs

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER he early Saturday night Phillies trade of Jim Thome to the Baltimore Orioles for prospects Kyle Simon and Gabriel Lino had an immediate impact on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. To accomodate the open spot on the Phillies roster, outfielder Jason Pridie was taken out of the lineup after playing left field in the top of the first inning and sent to Florida to join the parent club. As for the two prospects acquired by the Phillies, don't expect either at Coca-Cola Park any time soon. Simon, a 6-foot-5 righthanded pitcher from the University of Arizona, has a 2-8 record and 3.96 ERA in 14 starts with the Frederick Keys in the Class A Carolina League. The 21-year-old, who was drafted in the fourth round in 2011, is averaging 6.1 strikeouts and 2.6 walks per nine innings. Lino, a catcher who just turned 19 in May, is hitting .218 in 56 games for the Delmarva Shorebirds of the Class A South Atlantic League.
