http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/06/bret_comp_brian_gilbert_harold.html FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES Former East Stroudsburg University quarterback and current Wilson Area High School head coach Bret Comp will be among four inductees into the McDonald's Lehigh Valley Football Classic Hall of Fame on Thursday night. The other inductees are former Palisades coach Brian Gilbert, ex-Central Catholic coach Harold Fairclough and former Parkland standout Doug Petri. Comp was a three-year starter for ESU, graduating in 1992 as the program's all-time leader with 6,661 passing yards, 50 touchdowns, 485 completions and 956 attempts. He currently stands third in yards, completions and attempts and fifth in touchdowns. Comp threw for a then-school record 2,434 yards and 15 touchdowns in 1991. He directed the largest comeback in school history, bringing the Warriors back from an 18-point fourth quarter deficit to an eventual 43-41 win at Southern Connecticut State. Comp became Wilson's head coach in 1998 and has led the program to two Colonial League titles, three District 11 Class AA titles and the 2006 PIAA Class AA championship. He was named The Associated Press' PIAA Class AA Coach of the Year in 2006. Gilbert, recently named head coach at Whitehall, turned around a struggling Palisades program, going 63-41 in nine seasons and directing the Pirates to the 2007 Colonial League title and consecutive District 11 Class AA championships in 2007-08. Gilbert was a three-sport athlete at Freehold Township High School (N.J.) and was the starting quarterback for three seasons at Shippensburg University. He stands second on the school's career passing list with 6,205 yards. Fairclough coached Central Catholic to the 2010 PIAA Class AAA championship. He resigned after the 2011 season and is now an assistant under Gilbert at Whitehall. Fairclough also was a standout linebacker at Central Catholic and played on the 1993 state championship squad. Petri, who's served on the McDonald's All-Star Classic board of directors for many years, was team captain and earned all-league honors before graduating from Parkland in 1968. He moved on to East Stroudsburg University and was named an All-Pennsylvania Conference offensive lineman. Petri is a former assistant coach and special teams coordinator at Allen High School. He was also the school's volleyball coach for two seasons.
