Strauss Discount Auto files for bankruptcy, closes all stores

Bloomberg News reported the company filed for bankruptcy reorganization this week in court in Newark. It marks the third bankruptcy filing for Strauss in six years. The New Jersey-based company last emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization in 2010. Bloomberg News reports that, this time, Strauss’s 46 stores in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York were closed before the bankruptcy and the business will be sold. The local store on 1742 Stefko Blvd. posted a sign Tuesday indicating it had closed. The company’s website has removed content except to refer visitors to a customer-service number.
