Phillipsburg has boys basketball opening after Kevin Lloyd resigns

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER This happened a while ago, but I was finally able to catch up with Kevin Lloyd today and he confirmed he has resigned as Phillipsburg's boys basketball coach. Lloyd, the former Bethlehem Catholic coach and father of former Whitehall star Jerry Lloyd, was 27-41 in three seasons at P'burg after spending one season as an assistant under Tom Fisher. Lloyd was 34-41 in three seasons at Becahi where he previously worked with Jim Hutnik "It was tough because of limited contact with the kids . ... I couldn't get it to where I wanted to get it," Lloyd said. "But I liked it there. The people were good to me. We had good kids. We had some injuries and some ineligibilities the past two years or else we would have a really good run. That's part of the territory, though. I had a good time." Lloyd will be an assistant on Pat Boyle's staff at Notre Dame-Green Pond. He is eagerly awaiting the day when his son, Jerry, a Hall of Famer at Whitehall, will get a head coaching position. Jerry was a finalist for the Northampton job which went to Coy Stampone. He will be on Stampone's staff at Northampton.
