Patriot League adds women's golf as championship sport

League play in women's golf will begin in the 2012-13 season and the league's first championship will be held in the spring of 2013. Lehigh University, Bucknell University and College of the Holy Cross currently field varsity women's golf programs. The Council of Presidents meeting also made the Fordham University football team eligible for the Patriot League championship and qualification into the NCAA Division I Football Championship starting in the 2014 season. The team was ineligible for the league title since awarding athletic merit aid beginning in the fall of 2010. In other football news, the maximum roster size for preseason camp and regular season will be set at 95 student-athletes in 2013, 92 for 2014 and 2015 and 90 beginning with the 2016 season. Shifting to basketball, the league implemented a replay system for all men's and women's games starting this season.
