Microsoft unveils Xbox SmartGlass at E3; Music critic rips Nicki Minaj, and more

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/entertainment-general/index.ssf/2012/06/microsoft_unveils_xbox_smartgl.html FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES Tech blogs seem unanimously excited by Microsoft's next step with Xbox 360: SmartGlass, unveiled Monday at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). SmartGlass isn't a piece of hardware, but "a new app that turns your phone or tablet into another screen for your TV, another controller for a game, a companion feature for a show, a remote control for the Internet and more. More importantly, it'll work with iOS, Android and Windows, so you won't need to buy new hardware to fit into its ecosystem." (Gizmodo) While the app can transform a game or movie in tons of ways, Microsoft is hoping to make the process open to developers, giving them the tools to develop new functionality with the SmartGlass platform. (Engadget) More good news: Because SmartGlass runs on streaming technology, the app's file size is small, especially compared to the big features it aims to offer.
