Lehigh Valley wins Softball Carpenter Cup opener in Philly

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Thanks to some trusty correspondents, we have learned that the Lehigh Valley team defeated Delaware County 6-0 in its first Softball Carpenter Cup game today at FDR Park in Philadelphia. Joelle Morey (Becahi) and Olivia Marcks (Emmaus) combined on five-hit shutout. Morey worked the first four innings, Marcks the final three. Morey also had a RBI double. Arastina Barry (Saucon Valley) had two hits and two RBIs and a leaping catch at shortstop (no surprise from her) and Morning Call player of the year Mariah Kondravy of Liberty had a two-run double. Lehigh Valley will next play at 3 p.m., and if it wins, it will play again at 5.
