Lehigh football program snags a Central Catholic standout

Colleague Stephen Miller has confirmed that Lehigh University has snagged a top athlete from Central Catholic's championship football program.

Noah Robb, who played both wide receiver and safety for the Vikings, will be headed to South Mountain where he will play defense.

Robb, listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, will begin at safety and then potentially move to weakside outside linebacker for defensive coordinator Dave Kotulski.

On offense, he caught 36 passes for 313 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he had 67 tackles, 53 solo, and one interception.

Donnie Roberts, who is a former Central Catholic head coach and had a son Nathan on Central's 2010 state title team, was likely instrumental in recruiting Robb.

Lehigh is coming off back-to-back Patriot League championships and an 11-2 season in 2011 that ended with a loss in the FCS quarterfinals against North Dakota State.

Lehigh graduates 2011's starting free safety Jon Littlejohn. Starting strong safety Billy O'Brien will be a senior in the coming 2012 season.

Six of Lehigh's top eight linebackers in 2011 were seniors, so there might be a chance for Robb to come in and compete immediately for playing time.

“I feel like in the position they have me I’ll fit in well,” Robb told Miller on Sunday night. “They’ll use me to play in space and also support the run. I feel like playing linebacker this year also helped me a little bit more.

“I always had it in the back of my mind that I belonged at Lehigh,” he added. “I always felt real comfortable there. I think what really did it was the kids on the team. I got along real well with the kids on the team and the coaches.”
