Sports Media Digest- January 25, 2012

CBS Sports Preps for National Signing Day- The CBS Sports is gearing up for extensive coverage of college football’s national signing day, which is February 1st. CBS plans wall-to-wall coverage on CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports.com, and its MaxPreps.com web sites. Coverage begins at 1:00p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network with expert Tom Lemming and guest analysts, former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel and former Illinois coach Ron Zook. CBSSports.com’s coverage is highlighted by college football insider Bruce Feldman and recruiting expert Bryan Fischer.

ESPNU Also Covers National Signing Day- ESPNU will have ten hours of coverage of national signing day beginning at 9:00a.m. ET on ESPNU. Rece Davis and Dari Nowkhah will anchor the network’s coverage from the ESPNU studio in Charlotte, NC. Senior national recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill and recruiting analyst Craig Haubert will be joined in-studio by former head coaches Mike Bellotti, Randy Shannon and Butch Davis, college football analysts Rod Gilmore and David Pollack. Kirk Herbstreit and Lou Holtz will also provide commentary throughout the day in addition to NFL analyst Trent Dilfer. The program will also be simulcast on ESPN3.

Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Begins Tonight on Golf Channel- Tiger Woods makes his 2012 debut as Golf Channel begins coverage tonight of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Coverage begins at 10:30p.m. ET and will continue Friday through Sunday at 4:00a.m. ET.

Second Season of Feherty Expands to One Hour- The Golf Channel is also set to take the wraps off its second season of its hit series Feherty. The program featuring host David Feherty will expand to one hour and premiere on February 27th at 10:00p.m. ET. Feherty will host a special Feherty Live show from Super Bowl XLVI on February 4th.

Big Ten Icons Retruns to Big Ten Network- The next installment of the Big Ten Network’s (BTN) Big Ten Icons will be this Friday and profile former Minnesota and U.S. Olympic Hockey Coach Herb Brooks. Big Ten Icons will air immediately following BTN’s coverage of the Minnesota-St. Clolud State hockey game.

Second Episode of On Freddie Roach Airs Friday- HBO Sports has the second installment of the documentary series On Freddie Roache set to air this Friday at 9:30p.m. ET. The cinéma-vérité series from renowned filmmaker Peter Berg willbe replayed a number of times during the next week.

Suprecross Returns to CBS Sports on Sunday- This week’s CBS Sports Spectacular will feature the Monster Energy AMA Suprecorss competition from Oakland. The program airs Sunday, January 29th at 12:00p.m. ET on CBS.
