C.J. McCollum scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half today to lead the Lehigh University men's basketball team to a 90-76 Patriot League victory over Lafayette before a crowd of 3,124 at Kirby Sports Center.
McCollum, a junior guard, scored 12 straight points for Lehigh (15-6 overall, 3-2 league) during a stretch which enabled the Mountain Hawks to pull away from a tie and seize a 57-49 lead.
"In the first half I tried to let the other guys get going," McCollum said. "In the second half I had some easy opportunities and I was able to take advantage."
Gabe Knutson scored 17 points for Lehigh and Holden Greiner added 12. The Mountain Hawks played without point guard Mackey McKnight, who sat out a one-game suspension.
Ryan Willen led Lafayette (8-12, 3-2) with 17 points followed by Rob Delaney with 16, Dan Trist with 13 and Jim Mower with 11.
