Palisades quest for the crown takes them to Kings

Pates Park has been very good to Palisades.

The Pirates have won four straight games in south Allentown -- two in districts, two, so far, in states.

But the Colonial League runnerup and District 11 champion Pirates are going to have to head much farther north on Monday to continue their quest for the PIAA 3A softball championship.

Palisades is headed to King's College in Wilkes-Barre for its game against Jersey Shore in the state semifinals. It's a 4 o'clock start, but could be later considering there is the 2A semifinal between Central Columbia and Nanticoke scheduled at 2 p.m. before the 3A game.

And, Pates Park will get another state playoff game,. It will host the 4A game between Gov. Mifflin and Central Bucks South at 6 p.m.

Both of those teams have already made tourney appearances at Pates -- Gov. Mifflin defeated Stroudsburg there in the first round and C.B. South routed Hazleton in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
