Owen J. Roberts loses state championship game

PIAA CLASS AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP:

West Chester Henderson Warriors 7 - Owen J. Roberts Wildcats 0

The West Chester Henderson Warriors, in their first trip to the state playoffs, finished their magical run with a 7-0 victory over the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats in a battle of District 1 teams at Blair County Ballpark. Kyle Hooven went three for four at the plate and was the winning pitcher as the Warriors finish at 25-4 on the season.

The Wildcats left the bases loaded in the top of the first, they stranded ten runners for the game. The Warriors cashed in the bottom of the inning for three runs, Sean McCormick led off with a double, Zack Jones singled, then Kyle Hooven
delivered with an run scoring single. after two outs Chas McCormick doubled home two more runs.

Henderson tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third, scoring on a wild pitch and a throwing error by pitcher Tim Ponto. Zach Norton delivered an rbi single
that chased Ponto after two and two-thirds innings. The Warriors scored another run in the fourth, Ryan Stradley singled home Jones after one out.

Hooven pitched the first five innings, he allowed six hits and three walks, striking out three. Sean McCormick came on in relief and retired all six batters he faced.

Owen J. Roberts ends the season at 25-5.
