Philadelphia Phillies designate Greg Dobbs for assignment; activate Jimmy Rollins

According to a report on mlb.com, the Philadelphia Phillies have activated shortstop Jimmy Rollins from the disabled list and designated Greg Dobbs for assignment.

Dobbs has struggled in limited action this season, batting only .152 with one home run and six RBIs. After being one of the top pinch-hitters in the league in 2007 and 2008, he is just 1-for-25 in 2010 in that capacity.

Philadelphia has 10 days to work out a trade for Dobbs. If he clears waivers, the club could possibly assign him to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

In other moves, the team place catcher Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list following a concussion suffered during Friday night's win over Minnesota. Left-handed reliever Mike Zagurski was recalled from Lehigh Valley to give the Phillies a southpaw option out of the bullpen.
