Flyers open season on road

The Philadelphia Flyers will open their season in Pittsburgh's new arena and will play the cross-state rival Penguins three times in the first month, the NHL revealed in announcing its schedule on Tuesday.

Their home opener will be Oct. 11 against the Colorado Avalanche. That game begins a five-game homestand. Their longest of the season.

Unfortunately for Flyers fans, the team's one and only rematch against the Chicago Blackhawks comes on the road on January 23.

They finish the regular season with a home clash against the New York Islanders on April 9.
