Turner Sees Upturn in Viewers for First Four- Turner Sports announced today that the audience for the first four games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament totaled 4.47 million viewers, a 14% increase from 2012. The 2.9 rating was 12% above a year ago.
NBA TV to Televise Next Heat Match-Up- NBA TV will air the next game of the Miami Heat as it seeks its 24th consecutive victory. The Heat take on the Detroit Pistons tomorrow at 7:30p.m. ET. Meanwhile Fox Sports reports that the Heat have been a hit locally in the ratings during the streak. Through 20 games during the stretch on Sun Sports, the Miami ratings for the Heat have averaged 8.9, up 32% over a year ago.
NASCAR Sprint Cup from Fontana on Fox- The next stop in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series will originate from Fontana, CA and be telecast on Fox this Sunday. Pre-race coverage begins at 2:30p.m. ET with Chris Myers and Darrell and Michael Waltrip. Darell Waltrip will join Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds in the booth for the call of the race. Steve Byrnes, Krista Voda and Matt Yocum patrol the pits for reports on teams and pit while Jeff Hammond serves as the roaming reporter.
Friday Night Fights on ESPN- This week’s edition of Friday Night Nights on ESPN will feature Middleweight David “The Destroyer” Lopez and Don “Da Bomb” Georgein the 10-round main event. Bernado Osuna and Teddy Atlas have the call with Todd Grisham as pre and post fight host. Alex Pombo and Delvin Rodriguez will call this week’s fights for ESPN Deportes’ Viernes de Combates (Friday Night Fights) with Leopoldo Gonzalez and Pablo Viruega in the studio.
Road to the Kentucky Derby Begins this Weekend on NBCSN- The NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will produce a preview to its Road to the Kentucky Derby series with a 30-minute program this Saturday 6 – 6:30 p.m. ET. The live racing telecasts commence on Saturday, March 30, with the Besilu Florida Derby from Gulfstream Park and the Louisiana Derby from Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots on NBC Sports Network from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. ET.
