FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Any time your basketball season ends on the Giant Center floor in Hershey, Pa., you know you've had a memorable year.
Still, that fact was of little consolation to Bethlehem Catholic High School's girls, who felt they played nowhere near their best game in a 53-38 loss to South Park in the PIAA Class AAA championship game before a crowd of 6,000.
The Golden Hawks, who finished 28-3, tied the game at 6-all with 3:20 to go on a followup by forward Cecilia Perez but fell victim to a 10-0 South Park run that gave the Eagles (28-2), the District 7 champions, some breathing room with a 16-6 lead in the opening seconds of the second quarter.
Becahi, the District 11 champion, never got the deficit below eight points the rest of the way while the balanced South Park club pretty much controlled the game. Shelby Lindsay, a senior and 1,000-point scorer for the Eagles who strangely is receiving very little interest from college programs, led the way with 20 points with Allison McGrath adding 10.
It was South Park's first PIAA championship in its first state final. Bethlehem Catholic lost in the Class AAA final to North Catholic 62-42 in 1993 in its only other state championship game appearance.
