LEHIGH COUNTY
ALLENTOWN YARD WASTE SITE, Oxford Drive and Fish Hatchery Road, is now open for the season. It is open noon-4 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. Allentown residents must provide identification. Curbside yard waste collection will begin the week of April 7. Residents should place yard waste out on their recycling night. LEHIGH COUNTY AGRICULTURAL CENTER, 4184 Dorney ParkRoad, South Whitehall Township, will offer a 12-session Introduction to Organic Vegetable Production course Tuesdays, April 2 through Sept. 10. Classes taking place at various farms will be held 3:30 to 7 p.m. Classroom sessions at Lehigh County Ag Center will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost, including book, is $250. LEHIGH GAP NATURE CENTER, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Washington Township, will hold a craft day 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Participants will construct a decoupage tea light holder. Individuals should bring glass containers to decoupage on, small glass container for the tea light and pressed flowers. Supplies will be available for a small donation to LGNC if you don't have your own. Registration is required by e-mailing Lee Sivak atlsivak2001@yahoo.com or Kathie Romano at kfc1478@epix.net. A spring clean-up day will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6. Participants will help with chores around the gardens, Osprey House and refuge.
