Three area wrestlers kept their championships hopes alive at the NCAA wrestling championships at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines this afternoon. All three clinched All-American honors by making the semifinals.
Easton Area High School graduate Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma State punched his ticket to the semis with a 10-3 defeat of Nebraska's Jake Sueflohn in a 149-pound quarterfinal.
Oliver scored two takedowns in a 10-second stretch of the first period and then added two near-fall points with a tight waist tilt to take control of the bout.
Oliver (36-0), the No. 1 seed at 149, will meet 29-1 Steve Santos of Columbia, the EIWA champion, in his semifinal.
