FROM KEITH GROLLER
Chester won its 13th consecutive state playoff game, beating Great Valley 55-42 today at Spring-Ford High in Royersford to earn another berth in the PIAA boys 4A semifinals.
The Clippers, who have won two straight state championships and eight golds overall, will play District 12's No. 3 St. Joseph's Prep in Tuesday's semifinals.
Lower Merion, Chester's District One rival and the team that Chester beat in last year's state final and this year's district final, also made the state's Final Four with a thrilling 63-62 win over Harrisburg. The Aces rallied from eight down with less than four minutes to go.
Lower Merion will play District 7 champ New Castle, which defeated Cathedral Prep, 80-70.
And the big news in 2A is that defending Class A state champ Constitution was eliminated today by Holy Cross and that means 2A will not have a District 12 team in the state final for the first time since 2005.
