Installing borough Public Works Assistant Superintendent James Collins as the borough’s new emergency management coordinator would place citizens in “unnecessary jeopardy,” according to the borough’s police chief.

Nazareth police Chief Thomas Trachta told council during tonight’s regular meeting it was a mistake not to reappoint Mike Rinker, who held the OEM position for a decade. Council nominated Collins to the post last month.
