Volunteer Opportunities

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, Bethlehem needs volunteers to transport cancer patients back and forth for their treatments. Training is provided and volunteers are able to use the American Cancer Society vehicle or their own. All shifts on weekdays, mornings and afternoons. MEALS ON WHEELS OF LEHIGH COUNTY, Allentown, need groups to donate specific non-perishable items for "Blizzard Boxes" for its homebound clients during bad weather. MILLER-KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER, Allentown seeks volunteers for its location near Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Canteen attendants monitor blood donors after their donation and serve drinks and snacks. Must be willing to converse with donors and create a pleasant environment. No monthly minimum time requirement. Shifts include 7-11 a.m.; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; 2:30-5:30 p.m.; 5:30-8:30 p.m. Orientation and training as needed, flexible scheduling. Adults only. PHOEBE HOME NURSING AND REHABILATION CENTER, Allentown, needs volunteers to assist its memory-support units with its Alzheimer and dementia residents. UNITED WAY OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers to help box and label school suppplies for local educators. DOWNTOWN BETHLEHEM ASSOCIATION, Bethlehem, needs for volunteers for Harvest Fest Oct. 8 on Main Street. Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean-up, kid's activities, beer pourer's and general roving helping hands. For a packet, visit the Chamber of Commerce office 4-6 p.m. Sept. 28. Minimum age: 16.
