Lehigh ranked No. 13/14 in the national polls and another player gets a Patriot League honor

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Saturday's win over Liberty has boosted Lehigh up in at least one national FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) poll to No. 13. In addition, another Lehigh player has been honored as a Patriot League weekly award winner, but it's now quarterback Chris Lum who had his streak of Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards snapped at three.

The honoree was sophomore placekicker/punter who was named the Patriot League's Special Teams Player of the Week.

In just his second game as the team's placekicker, Divers booted the first two field goals of his career and was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts.

Divers’ first field goal, the first successful field goal for Lehigh this season, came from 30 yards out and tied the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter. He added a second field goal, also from 30 yards away with just over six minutes remaining in the first half, which gave Lehigh a 13-10 lead.

In addition to his placekicking work, Divers completed his fourth game as the Mountain Hawks punter, placing one punt inside the Liberty 20 yard line in three attempts.

For the season, Divers is now 7-for-7 on extra points and 2-for-3 on field goal attempts. He is averaging 38 yards on 16 punts, with five kicks downed inside the 20 yard line.

Lehigh rose from No. 15 to No. 13 in the The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS poll, of which I am a member. The Mountain Hawks, who play Yale on Saturday, rose two spots to No. 14 in the FCS Coaches poll.

Here's the The Sports Network poll:
