FROM ROSS NUNAMAKER
The Express-Times has an article noting that Dr. Lesky will receive a lump sum payout of $60,000, give or take, for his years of service and unused sick days.
This is common practice in the schools and applies to all retirees. This is in addition to their pension. The pension is paid out provided the individual does not work in the public school system in PA. The individual can work in private sector or another state and continue to receive their pension, which is state supported, and not a 401(k) or market based.
