Lafayette College football team falls to Georgetown University rally

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Lafayette College did something Saturday it hadn't done since 1927 -- lose to Georgetown University in our nation's capital.

A nine-yard TD pass from Isaiah Kempf to Max Waizenegger with 6:09 to go in the game gave the Hoyas (2-0) a 14-13 Patriot League win over the Leopards (0-2) in the league opener for both teams.

Backup quarterback Andrew Shoop, who came in when Ryan O'Neil was injured (head) in the third quarter, led the Leopards on a march to the Hoya 23 with 1:10 left but freshman running back Ross Scheuerman fumbled there and Georgetown's Dustin Wharton recovered.

The Leopards had gone up 13-7 after trailing 7-3 at the half on a 38-yard TD pass from Shoop to Mitchell Bennett and a 31-yard Austin O'Brien field goal, his second of the game.
