We are only two weeks into the 2011 season, but one thing is becoming painfully clear for 10 of the 12 teams in the Colonial League:
Pen Argyl and Northern Lehigh are on a collision course.
Again.
A season after a showdown in Week 6 determined the league title, the two are among the most impressive 2-0 clubs with another potential matchup of unbeatens looming in early October.
Here are the league rankings entering Week 3:
1. Pen Argyl: Dominated its first two opponents. Has back-to-back tough games looming in early October when Southern Lehigh and Northern Lehigh make the trek.
2. Northern Lehigh: Two convincing wins to start 2011 have other league teams wondering: What rebuilding? First four-quarter challenge should come Week 6 at Pen Argyl.
3. Bangor: The Slaters took care of business to the tune of 75-0 in the opening two contests. Big showdown Friday against visiting Southern Lehigh.
4. Southern Lehigh: Next three games are against 2-0 teams, beginning Friday at Bangor.
5. Catasauqua: Held off improved Notre Dame to reach 2-0. The Rough Riders’ focus will be tested the next three weeks against 0-2 clubs.
6. Northwestern: Two convincing wins to start. After Wilson visits this Friday, the Tigers must trek to Southern Lehigh.
7. Palmerton: The only 1-1 team in the North Division after a home loss to Southern Lehigh.
8. Wilson: The best of the 0-2 teams at this point. There is some strong individual talent here, but a lot of young pieces trying to figure things out.
9. Notre Dame: Two tough losses to open 2011. The Crusaders will have a tough time reaching the win column this Saturday when they visit Pen Argyl.
10. Saucon Valley: Just what the Panthers want, a trek to Northern Lehigh after an 0-2 start.
11. Palisades: The Pirates’ offense has struggled, with three points in eight quarters. Defense produced the other six.
12. Salisbury: Another offensively challenged team at the moment.

Wilson at Northwestern Lehigh
Northern Lehigh at Saucon Valley
Palmerton at Salisbury
Catasauqua at Palisades
SATURDAY (1:30 p.m.)
