Palisades used a 14-0 romp over Franklin Towne Charter as a tuneup for a PIAA Class AAA softball tournament that will obviously get much harder than the mercy-rule victory over an overmatched District 12 second-place team.
“I told the girls to live for the moment right now because you won’t get here … There’s not too many teams that do this,” Borzok said. “It’s not going to be an easy road after this."
Junior Michelle Smith scored three times and drove in a pair of runs and Pirate ace Krista Morrone came within a strike of recording her second no-hitter in three state tournament appearances. Rachel Broomhead singled for FTC on an 0-2 count with two outs in the fifth inning.
Palisades advances to meet Muhlenberg Township (22-5), the No. 3 team from District 3, on Thursday in the quarterfinal round.
