The Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup team opens the 2010 tournament at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Philadelphia's Richie Ashburn Field in FDR Park against Chester County.
This is the 25th anniversary of the 16-team, single-elimination tournament.
Phillies catcher Brian Schneider, a Northampton graduate, is this year's honorary chairman.
The Lehigh Valley team consists of 25 players from schools in the Lehigh Valley Conference, Colonial League, Mountain Valley Conference and Tamaqua. Ted Plessl returns as the head coach.
With a win, the Lehigh Valley team will advance to the quarterfinal round June 21 at Ashburn Field. The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Citizens Bank Park.
Lehigh Valley won championships in 1998 and 2001.
