Northampton beats Nazareth to advance to LVC girls final

Locations and lineups have not mattered to Northampton.

The Konkrete Kids have enjoyed success whenever and wherever they have played Nazareth this season.

Top seed Northampton stifled the fourth-seeded Blue Eagles tonight, cruising to a 36-25 win in the first Lehigh Valley Conference girls basketball semifinal at Easton Middle School. It was Northampton's third victory in three meetings with Nazareth this season.

The Konkrete Kids (21-2 overall) will face the winner of tonight's second semifinal between No. 2 Liberty and No. 3 Central Catholic for the LVC title Friday. That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Easton Middle School.

Northampton , which played without senior 1,000-point scorer Alyssa Bonenberger (sprained left ankle), held Nazareth (16-6) to 20.8 percent shooting from the field (10-for-48) and just 11 first-half points. The Konkrete Kids put the game away with a 6-0 run early in the fourth quarter, opening a 10-point lead.

Kara Bonenberger started the run with a 3-pointer en route to a team-high 10 points. She also helped limit Nazareth star Erika Livermore to 14 points, six of which came in the fourth quarter.

Chelsea Deutsch had six points and six steals, Ali Braithwaite had eight points and 12 rebounds, and Alesha Marcks finished with six points and 10 boards for the Konkrete Kids. Marcks, a sophomore, started for Alyssa Bonenberger.
