Cat Country, RCN to hold radiothon for St. Jude

Cat Country FM 96.1 and RCN are partnering to raise money Friday to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Donors who contribute $25 per month, becoming a St. Jude's Partner-in-Hope, will receive tickets to a special Cat Country concert later this year, a news release from RCN says.

The fundraiser for the pediatric treatment and research facility is 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. It's like a telethon, but it will be broadcast live on the radio -- so it's dubbed a radiothon.

Cat Country's Becca and Malone are hosting the event, and RCN is sponsoring the phone bank.

Organizers hope to raise at least $170,000.

The country music industry's Country Cares initiative has raised more than $365 million for St. Jude, according to its Web site.
