http://sportsmediajournal.com/ Up Go the Olympics TV Viewership Numbers for NBC- Thursday saw the fifth consecutive day of 30 million-plus viewers as 36.8 million viewers tuned into to NBC’s prime time coverage of the Olympics. The 21.1 rating was 18% higher than the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 9% higher than the 2004 games in Athens. NBC is also gaining viewership among younger viewers. The audience for teen girls and teens in general (12-17) are up 54% and 29% over 2008 while 68% and 53% of those 13-24 are streaming the Games on either a tablet or smart phone. Online Viewership of the Games Skyrocket- NBC is seeing extraordinary numbers of viewers watching the Olympics online or through mobile devices. Across the online, mobile and tablet platforms, there have been 75 million total video streams (up 182% over 2008), 34 million live streams (up 333%), 744 million page views (up 166 million over 2008), and 31.5 million unique users (web only). Cable, satellite, and telco customers have verified 6.2 million devices either on NBCOlympics.com or on the NBC Olympics Live Extra app. This is believed to be the most device verifications ever for a single event in TV Everywhere history. Angels/White Sox on Sunday MLB on TBS- Tomorrow’s Major League Baseball contest on TBS will feature the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at the Chicago White Sox.
