Macatee New U.S. Open Tennis Voice for CBS- CBS Sports announced today that Bill Macatee has been named lead play-by-play voice for the network’s coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. Macatee will join Mary Carillo and John McEnroe when CBS begins its coverage of tennis’ final grand slam event of the year on September 1st. Macatee replaces Dick Enberg, who retired from the lead position after last year’s tournament.
NFL Network Looking For Fan Voices for its Thursday Night Football Opens- Grammy Award-winning artist CeeLo Green will sing NFL Network’s new Thursday Night Football anthem and the network is looking for fan participation. The network is looking for fan-sourced videos performing CeeLo’s new “Fanthem” (fan anthem) entitled “I Love Football,” set to The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop.” Fans who want to submit their videos to be considered for the opening montage can go towww.nfl.com/fanthem
Dodgers/Braves This Week’s Sunday MLB on TBS Telecast- Two teams battling for playoff positions will square off on this weekend’s Sunday MLB on TBS game of the week. The Los Angeles Dodgers at Atlanta Braves begins at 1:30p.m. ET Sunday with Ernie Johnson and John Smoltz at the mic. They will be joined during the broadcast by two-time Olympic softball gold medalist Michele Smith.
CBS has the PGA’s Wyndham Championship This Weekend- CBS will televise the final regular season PGA event this weekend at the Wyndham Championship. Coverage begins at 3:00p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday with Bill Macatee and analyst Ian Baker-Finch from the 18th tower. Peter Oosterhuis calls the shots from the 17th tower. Peter Kostis calls the action at the 16th hole and David Feherty serves as on-course reporter.
CBS Sports Spectacular has College Football, Tennis, and Golf on the Agenda- The CBS Sports Spectacular returns Saturday at 1:00p.m. ET as Tim Brando, Spencer Tillman, Gary Danielson and Tony Barnhart have the CBS Sports College Football Preview Show. CBS has tennis on Sunday at 12:30p.m. with the Western and Southern Open from Cincinnati. Mary Carillo, Jim Courier and Mary Joe Fernandez call the action. At 2:00p.m. ET Bill Macatee hosts PGA Tour 2012; Playing with a Purpose, looking at the charitable endeavors be members of the PGA Tour.
ESPNFC Officially Launches- ESPN today officially launched its new digital soccer product, ESPNFC. ESPNFC succeeds ESPNsoccernet as the sports media company’s global soccer brand, bringing together all of ESPN’s soccer properties and housing them under one universally recognized name. The launch today today is in conjunction with the start of the new soccer seasons and international friendlies around the world, including the USA vs. Mexico match live tonight at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and ESPN3.
NBCSN Has MLS Action Sunday- This weekend’s Major League Soccer match on the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will pit the Philadelphia Union at D.C. United. Action begins Sunday at 5:00p.m. ET with Arlo White alongside Kyle Martino calling the action. Russ Thaler will serve as studio host on-site for the pre-game and halftime analysis.
NBCSN Has Coverage of USA Pro Challenge Cycling Event- The NBC Sports Network will be devoting 29 hours of race coverage of the second annual USA Pro Challenge, a seven-day cycling event that features the world’s top riders. Live daily coverage begins on Monday, August 20, at 4:00 p.m. ET, on NBC Sports Network and continues over seven days of competition. This year coverage has been extended to include two hours on NBC on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26. Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen,will lead NBC’s coverage of the races. Former cyclist Bob Roll will serve as the in-race reporter and Steve Porino will provide in-race reports
