POCONO: Juan Pablo Montoya wins pole for Sprint Cup race; Joey Coulter wins Truck race

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Juan Pablo Montoya won the pole for Sunday's Pennsylvania 400 and Joey Coulter won his first NASCAR Camping World Truck series race, taking the third annual Pocono Mountains 125 on Saturday. Montoya, who will be joined on the front row by Denny Hamlin, earned his eighth career pole, but his first since Richmond in April of 2011. He posted a speed of 176.043. This is his first pole in 12 races at Pocono. His previous best start was second in August of 2010. Hamlin, a four-time winner at Pocono, earned his 12th top-10 start of 2012 and his12th in 14 races at Pocono. Paul Menard was third, Kasey Kahne fourth. Among other notables, points leader Dale Earnhardt, Jr. qualified eighth, June race winner Joey Logano qualified 14th and June runnerup Mark Martin will start 18th. Jimmie Johnson, last week's winner at the Brickyard, qualified 10th and Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart qualified 27th and 28th, respectively. In the truck race, the third annual Pocono Mountains 125, Coulter, driving for Richard Childress Racing, pulled away on the last restart. Three were three cautions for 12 laps, including an accident involving Nelson Piquet, Jr. and Todd Bodine that knocked Bodine out of the race. Bodine was angered and flung his helmet at a passing Piquet at one point. Denny Hamlin, making a rare truck series appearance, finished fifth.
