Liberty basketball standout makes his college choice

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Liberty's Greg Noack said it was always his goal to play Division I basketball. Noack will have his chance next year after recently giving a veral commitment to accept a full scholarship from Division I Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. The 6-foot-7 Noack, the son of Glenn Noack who was a member of Whitehall's 1982 state title team, had considered several other schools, most notably Lafayette and New Hampshire. But he liked the mix of academics and hoops at Monmouth. “Monmouth has a great academic sports system with a coach on-staff who will help you with all of your classes and not allow you to fall behind, and because it’s a gorgeous campus a mile from the beach, and because of the Leon Hess Business School,” said Noack, who averaged 13 poins and six rebounds last season. “If you can get a great basketball program with good academics, that works, and that’s Monmouth.” With his senior year at Liberty about to begin on Monday, Noack said he was happy to get this decision off his shoulders. "The recruiting process is very exciting, but I don’t know what I’d do once school begins with basketball practice, homework and then have to call some coaches back," he said. "It would be a packed schedule. That’s why I am glad I made this decision and have this off my shoulders.”
