In for a long rain delay at Pocono Raceway
http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/
FROM KEITH GROLLER
Just as the pre-race festivities were in full swing here at Pocono Raceway, a heavy rainstorm began and we are going to be in for a long delay before the start of the Pennsylvania 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race here in Long Pond.
As of 12:41, the rain is coming down extremely hard, scattering the crowd. The race was supposed to start at 1:12 p.m., but at this point, we'll be lucky to be racing by 3:12. Remember, with the shorter race, you only need 81 laps to have an official race. But you'd still need about a four-hour window to get the track dried and those 81 laps completed. Right now, that window is very gloomy.
August 5 download 017ESPN will have to fill with rain delay theater.
The last time the August race was rained out was in 2009.
Last August, the rain hit on Saturday and forced the truck race to be held on Sunday before the Sprint Cup race.
