Sports Media Weekly No. 111- Drea Avent, Fox Sports, NBC Olympics

http://sportsmediajournal.com/ Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I are back for the Dog Days of Summer edition of Sports Media Weekly. We start the show by talking of the news this week that Samantha Steele will replace Erin Andrews on ESPN College Gameday beginning this fall. Ken and I then preview the apps released by NBC last week for the 2012 Olympics. We wrap-up the news segment looking at ESPN’s coverage of the Open Championship and the plans for ESPNU to create a late-night entertainment program next month. Our guest this week is Drea Avent. You may know Drea from her work last season as sideline reporter for Fox’ coverage of the NFL. She is heading to London next week to serve as reporter for the women’s Olympic soccer tournament for NBC. Drea talks about her expectations in covering her first Olympics games, how important it is for her to prepare for each game she covers, and her plans for work when she returns from London.
