Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pa., has been sold

The 1,300-seat theater, which opened in 1928, has been purchased by the Sherman Arts Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, according to the release. Sherman Theater has held more than 100 live shows in the past year and has attracted more than 100,000 visitors to the region, according to the release. Upcoming performances include David Bromberg on June 8; Marshall Tucker Band on June 9; electric Hot Tuna on June 28; Halestorm on June 30, and Danish heavy-metal band Volbeat on July 22. The theater is ranked No. 58 on Pollstar's list of club venues for annual ticket sales, according to the release. In 2011, it was named among the top 100 live music venues in the world. A public announcement regarding the purchase will be made 11 a.m. on May 30 at the theater, which will "offer details on how the organization will keep moving forward," according to the release.
