Lehigh University football team cruises past Fordham 34-12

Senior quarterback Chris Lum and junior wide receiver Ryan Spadola set career highs as the Lehigh University football team beat Fordham University 34-12 this afternoon at Jack Coffey Field in the Bronx, N.Y.

Lum, who eclipsed the 300-yard mark for the eighth straight game, finished with a gawdy 413 yards (32 of 47) with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Spadola, who leads the Football Championship Subdivision with 147 receiving yards per game, went over the 1,000-yard receiving plateau on the season after hauling in 13 catches for 216 yards and a score.

The No. 8 Mountain Hawks improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Rams dropped to 1-5.

Lehigh junior running back Zach Barket rushed for a career-high 111 yards on 18 carries, going over the 100-yard mark in a game for the first time.

Sophomore fullback Zach Hayden caught a 2-yard touchdown pass for the first reception of his career and senior wide receiver Matt Fitz (a converted running back) rushed for a 7-yard score, the first rushing TD of his career.

Lehigh, which led 20-5 at halftime, racked up 335 yards on 53 plays in the game's first 30 minutes.

Senior linebacker Mike Groome had a pair of interceptions, while senior safety Jon Littlejohn also had a pick.
