Two Lafayette College students have been honored as Patriot League football players of the week.
Junior quarterback Andrew Shoop and freshman running back Ross Scheuerman were honored as student-athletes, according to a news release.
Shoop, of Danville, Pa., was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after completing 16-of-24 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown and also running for a score in the Leopards' 45-24 victory over Fordham on Saturday.
Shoop threw two separate 49-yard passes in the first half to set up touchdowns as Lafayette took a 27-17 lead at the half. He is the fourth quarterback to be honored this season and the first non-senior.
Scheuerman, of Creamridge, N.J., totaled 138 all-purpose yards in the game to earn his third Patriot League Rookie of the Week award of the season. This is the third time he has received this designation.
Linebacker Leroy Butler, a senior at Lafayette from Sarasota, Fla., received an honorable mention. He tallied a career-high 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups in Lafayette's 45-24 win over Fordham.
