Patriot award is getting to be ho-hum for Lehigh's Lum

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Another week, another Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award for Lehigh quarterback Chris Lum.

He has won the award for the third straight week after a stellar performance in Lehigh's 34-22 win over Princeton on Saturday night. He is the first player to win three straight Offensive Player of the Week awards since Holy Cross quarterback Dominic Randolph won four straight in 2008.

Lum completed 28-of-38 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns. He connected with nine different receivers, including nine receptions for his top target, junior Ryan Spadola, who had 214 receiving yards and the first three of Lum’s touchdown passes.

For the season, Lum has completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,131 yards and 14 touchdowns. He remains second in the country in total offense averaging 394 yards per game. Lum ranks second in all of FCS football in passing yards and leads the subdivision in touchdown passes. Lum is the only FCS quarterback to reach double-digits in touchdown passes so far this season.

Lum now has five career 300-yard passing games, including four straight dating back to last year. As a team Lehigh continues to rank in the top five nationally in passing offense and total offense.

Saturday’s victory also moved Lehigh back into the top 15 in the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25 as the Mountain Hawks moved up one spot to No. 15 in the polls.

Lehigh plays the Liberty University Flames on Saturday at Goodman Stadium at 12:30 p.m. It is Homecoming.
