MDA TELETHON SUNDAY ON WNEP

WNEP-TV, The News Station is proud to be, for the 37th year, the local host of the MDA Labor Day Telethon. The telethon will broadcast live from WNEP-TV Studios in Moosic on Sunday, September 4th from 6pm to midnight. Newswatch 16 This Morning anchor Mindi Ramsey and Pennsylvania Outdoor Life’s Don Jacobs, will host the first six hour, prime time telethon in MDA’s history. Tune in to see compelling stories of families in our area, check presentations from local organizations and businesses and how you can “Make A Muscle and Make A Difference for MDA”.

Co-hosting the national Telethon from the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas this year is Nigel Lythgoe (executive producer of American Idol plus judge and executive producer of So You Think You Can Dance); Nancy O’Dell (Entertainment Tonight anchor); Alison Sweeney (host of NBC’s The Biggest Loser and author of The Mommy Diet); and Jann Carl (Emmy-winning journalist and executive producer of SOLD – Ozark Auction on the History Channel). Entertainment icons including Céline Dion, Lady Antebellum, Jennifer Lopez, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, Steven Tyler, Jon Secada, Randy Jackson and Richie Sambora are just some of the outstanding talent making special appearances on the MDA Labor Day Telethon.

This “Love Network” one of a kind event brings help and hope to more than 1 million Americans living with neuromuscular diseases. Last year WNEP-TV raised $572,428 locally for MDA. Nationally, the 45th annual telethon raised $58.9 million.
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive healthcare and support services, advocacy and education. In addition to funding more than 300 research projects worldwide, MDA maintains a national network of some 200 hospital-affiliated clinics; orchestrates hundreds of support groups for families affected by neuromuscular diseases; facilitates extraordinary local summer camp opportunities for thousands of youngsters fighting progressive muscle diseases.
