Lehigh Valley IronPigs drop Game 2 of Governors' Cup finals to Columbus

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The Columbus Clippers scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally for a 4-1 victory over Lehigh Valley this evening at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

Columbus, the reigning Triple-A National Champions, evened the Governors' Cup championship series at 1-1. Game 3 is Thursday evening at Coca-Cola Park.

The IronPigs, who had their eight-game win streak snapped, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning as Tagg Bozied blasted a solo home run over the wall in left field.

Starting pitcher Nate Bump (0-1) was impressive, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After giving up just two hits through the first seven innings, the veteran right-hander allowed a single to Juan Diaz and a double off the wall in right field to Argenis Reyes.

Left-handed reliever Mike Zagurski entered and intentionally walked pinch hitter Jerad Head to load the bases. Travis Buck's sacrifice fly to Scott Podsednik in left field tied the score at 1-1 and a single by Jared Goedert reloaded the bases.

The Clippers took a 2-1 lead on a wild pitch with Beau Mills up at the plate in the next at-bat. Mills later followed with a two-run single to right field for a three-run advantage.

Columbus starter Mitch Talbot (2-0) allowed one run on seven hits in a complete-game effort, while retiring the final 10 batters faced.
