Emmaus beats Parkland, 23-20, on 44-yard field goal on last play

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Junior Dalton Landis kicked a 44-yard field goal on the final play of the game to give Emmaus a stunning 23-20 win over Parkland on Friday night in Orefield.

Khaleel Artis ran for two touchdowns and it was his 33-yard burst around left end that set up the game-winning kick.

Andrew Kerson, showing remarkable courage after taking a huge hit from Parkland's Matt Laub, threw a touchdown pass for the Green Hornets, who fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter.

Parkland got touchdown runs from Rob Dvoracek and Jarel Elder and Tim Baranek threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Fuhrer, but the Trojans were done in by too many mistakes and turnovers.

Parkland fell to 2-1, 1-1 LVC and Emmaus improved to 2-1, 1-1 LVC.

Much more in the newspaper on Saturday morning, but this was quite a game here tonight.

A good rivalry between these schools.

Not the prettiest or cleanest of games, but a great crowd and a finish I won't soon forget.
