Bushkill Township teen dies 11 days after single-vehicle accident

A 19-year-old Bushkill Township man has died from his injuries 11 days after being involved in a single-car crash.

Lehigh County Coroner Paul Hoffman said Tyler Merritt, of the 1300 block of Bushkill Center Road, died 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. Merritt died of head injuries suffered in the Sept. 3 wreck on Young Road near Cherry Hill Road, he said.

The Bushkill Township police officer authorized to release the crash report was not immediately available this evening, police said. Hoffman said there were multiple victims in the crash, but did not have more details.

According to his obituary, Merritt is survived by his parents, John and Cynthia Merritt, and his brothers Cory and Ryan Merritt. He graduated from Nazareth Area High School in 2010 and worked at Staffmark/Crayola in Bethlehem.

A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Reichel Funeral Home in Nazareth.
