FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES
Stone Temple Pilots are returning to Musikfest.
The alternative rock band will perform 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 on the Sands Steel Stage, according to a news release.
The band previously performed at Musikfest in 2008 during the final leg of its reunion tour.
Tickets cost $35-47 and go on sale 10 a.m. May 3 to ArtsQuest members and 10 a.m. May 6 to the general public.
The group rose to prominence in the early 1990s on the strength of their debut album “Core” in 1992 and its 1994 follow-up “Purple.” The latter spawned the hits “Interstate Love Song,” “Big Empty” and “Vaseline.” Stone Temple Pilots released three more studio albums before disbanding in 2001 shortly after the release of their album “Shangri-La Dee Da.”
Singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz reunited in 2008. The band released its self-titled album in 2010, which featured the single, “Between the Lines.”
