One award that Brendan Nosovitch didn't win

FROM KEITH GROLLER

I didn't think there was an award that Central Catholic quarterback Brendan Nosovitch wasn't a lock to win after that amazing junior season. But here's one that evidently eluded the Vikings star.

It's the Mr. Pennsylvania Football Award. The awards were presented on Friday night at the Harrisburg Hilton.

Here's the release I received on Saturday morning:

(Harrisburg, Pa.) Wayde D. Marsico, President/CEO of Sportsrecruiters.com, is pleased to announce the winners of the first Mr. Pennsylvania Football Awards.

Desimon Green, a senior at Clairton High School is the winner of the class A, AA award.

Ruschel Shell, a junior at Hopewell High School (Aliquippa) is the winner of the class AAA, AAAA award.

The winners were selected by high school coaches, sports media, and football fans from across the state. They were chosen from a total of 63 nominees and then the players were pared down to the final five in each division.

Desimon Green, quarterback and defensive end, in 2010 Green passed for nearly 1,900 yards, rushed for 700 more and accounted for 43 touchdowns.

As a senior, he recorded 88 tackles and 14 sacks. Green finished his junior season with 87 tackles and 27 sacks – the sack total is a Clairton single-season school record.
