Legendary sports broadcaster Bob Wolff to be on RCN show

Bob Wolff, considered the longest running broadcaster in sports television and radio history, will be a guest on Thursday night's RCN-4 "Sports Talk" show hosted by Chris Michael.

The live show airs at 6 p.m. and viewers can e-mail questions and comments.

RCN regulars Gary Laubach and John Leone will be on the set while Wolff will be heard over the phone during the show.

Wolff, who will turn 90 later this year, and Curt Gowdy are the only two broadcasters honored by both the national baseball and basketball halls of fame.

Wolff worked as the play-by-play voice of the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins in baseball and worked the Colts and Redskins in the NFL, but is most firmly associated with the New York sports scene. He still lives in South Nyack, N.Y.

I remember him as the lead announcer on Knicks television games on Channel 9 back in the 1970s when the Knicks had great teams with Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe and Willis Reed, among others.

This should be an interesting and entertaining show, covering lots of sports broadcasting history.
