FROM KEITH GROLLER
Here's what I fear.
When we get a Super Bowl that's supposed to be a mismatch -- like Pats-Giants or Steelers-Cardinals -- we get a great game.
When we get a Super Bowl that's supposed to be great, it seldom is.
So, with everyone hyping this one as one of the best matchups ever, I have a suspicion that we could be in for a one-sided game. I hope not. We all need a great night of entertainment considering the horrible weather and the fact that this could be the last pro football game until about October.
I am still hopeful of a great game and a Packers victory. Just sick of the Steelers. Sorry Pitt6Rings. I respect your loyalty to the team and the city, and I like that city, just not this team.
I was sick of them in the 70s and I am sick of them again. And despite his supposed transformation as a person, I still don't like Ben Roethlisberger. Still don't trust him. Still think there's a lot of Charlie Sheen in him, and I still don't think he's all that great of a quarterback. Hard to bring down, tough guy, and all of that -- just not great.
So, I am going with the Pack. I was there the day they beat the Eagles and was in that locker room after the game and I just like the way they go about their business. Plus, if this in any way sticks it in Brett Favre's face -- another guy whose image is media-driven and who also may have a lot of Charlie Sheen in him -- I am all for it.
I'm going Pack 28-21, which means they also cover and I am taking the over.
After a miserable regular season, I am 6-4 in everything -- outright, spread, over/under -- during the playoffs. Some accuracy today would close out the season nice.
But even more interesting is this number of prop bets that go along with this game.
Anybody can pick the winner and the MVP, but can you accurately guess how long Christina Aguilera's version of the National Anthem will take?
Here are some of the prop bets, and my picks:
How long will Christina Aguilera hold the word “Brave” at the end of the National Anthem?
Over/Under 6 seconds -- I am taking the under.
Will Christina Aguilera wear a cowboy hat during the National Anthem?
Yes or No? -- I say No.
How often will FOX mention “Brett Favre” on TV during the Game? The over and under is 2.5. I say the over. Definitely. That total might be reached in the first half alone.
What color will the Gatorade be that is dumped on game-winning coach? I say clear, because I think a lot of teams actually just have water in those Gatorade-marked tubs.
Who will the Super Bowl MVP of the Game thank first? God is the favorite, but I think he will thank his teammates first, and some of these guys are so into themselves, they may not thank anyone at all.
What will Fergie wear when she appears first on stage during the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
The choices are: Skirt/Dress 1/1, Pants (Below Knees) 1/1, Shorts (Above Knees) 7/2
Thong/G-String/Bikini Bottom 10/1.
I am going with shorts above knees, but, like many males, will be hoping for something more. She'll be the only reason I pay attention to the halftime show at all.
Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday.
