FROM THE MORNING CALL
No. 2 seed Nazareth exploded for 15 points in the final 3 minutes, 35 seconds of the second quarter and cruised to a 51-31 win over No. 7 Allen in the second District 11 Class 4A girls basketball quarterfinal Friday night at Dieruff High School.
Nazareth (20-4 overall) advanced to Tuesday’s district semifinals against No. 3 Parkland, a 41-24 winner over No. 6 Pocono Mountain West in the first quarterfinal at Dieruff. Nazareth has already beaten Parkland three times this season, including in last week’s Lehigh Valley Conference semifinals.
Nazareth senior Erika Livermore scored 19 of her game-high 25 points in the first half on 8-for-11 shooting. She also had eight boards and four blocks in the opening two quarters, proving an impossible matchup for Allen (12-12). She finished with 13 rebounds, five blocks and three steals.
Caitlyn Gary dished out nine assists for the Blue Eagles, who led 43-22 after three quarters.
