Lafayette College football program signs 28 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent

Football games are often won and lost in the trenches.

Not surprisingly, Lafayette College football coach Frank Tavani has placed strong emphasis on building his offensive and defensive lines as he tries to recover from last season’s disappointing 2-9 campaign.

Six offensive linemen, including Zack Mazur of Freedom, and five defensive linemen are among 28 student-athletes the Leopards football program signed to National Letters of Intent for the Class of 2015.

Five linebackers, four defensive backs, three wide receivers, two quarterbacks, one tailback, one tight end and one punter/placekicker are also on their way to College Hill.

“I’m very encouraged by our recruiting season,” said Tavani, who is 70-65 in 11 seasons at Lafayette. “We’re looking for good competition at every position, and the competition just picked up.
